Haw River from Hwy 62 N. to Graham Hopedale Rd
This run is best when the meter is between 3 and 5 feet for newbies...
and 4-10 feet for experienced paddlers.
Bring you hiking boots when it reads below 2.3 feet.
(We use the term "rapid" loosely)

Your put in spot off Hwy 62.

This is the first rapid below the bridge.  Take the right side for the best ride.

This is looking up at the first rapid.  Although it appears tame I have seen many a
paddler go for a swim  in this area by getting turned sideways on a rock in the
foreground area of this picture below the two large rocks.

Looking to the right of the shot above.

Rapid number 2...take the right again.

A shot from below rapid number 2.

Several possible routes here...not a rapid but a boat dragger.

This one is fun...you track towards the middle of this shot then cut hard
right to take the shoot then back to the left to get position to take the fall path in the picture below.

To take the fall take this path to the right just after you go through the section in the picture above.
There are several other paths to the fall but they are too shallow.

The fall at Carolina Mill.  This is the best spot to run the fall.
You can easily climb out on the rocks  on the right and redo this fall many times.
After the fall cut left to join the main channel again.

Views of the main channel adjacent to the fall.
This area tends to be a boat dragger below 4-5 feet.

Take this one to the left side of the river.

Although there are few visible rocks this is the best part of this stretch of river.
If you take the proper path your bow will dip under the water several times.
Carolina Mill  Rd is beside you at this point and you are 100 yards below the fall.

The horizon shot looking at the rock garden just past the Graham Hopedale Rd bridge.
There are many possible paths through the rock garden.
